Lajos Werkner won gold medals in Team Sabre at the 1908 and 1912 Olympic Games.
At the 1908 Games, his teammates included Jewish fencers: Dr. Jeno Fuchs and Oszkar Gerde, both IJSHOF honorees, and Dezso Foldes.
In 1912, his Jewish gold medal teammates were again Foldes, Fuchs, and Gerde.
