Sol Schiff

Sol Schiff led the United States to the 1937 Men's World Table Tennis Championship (Swaythling Cup). His own 21-1 record included victories over storied European champions Viktor Barna, Laszlo Bellak, Miklos Szabados and Richard Bergmann—each of them previous World champions.

In 1938, he won the World Doubles Championship (with Jimmy McClure), defeating Barna & Bellak for the title.

Schiff is a six-time U.S. Open Men's Doubles champion and nine-time U.S. Mixed Doubles champion. In 1936, he captured the U.S. Men's Singles title.
